The place

A white gazebo, an aisle straight down to the ocean, and bridesmaids in every shade of pink. Behind them, the Pacific doing its usual show.

The two of them

Theresa holds a bouquet of red roses like it is part of her. Ben holds her like she is the only thing on the beach. On the sand afterwards, the wind took the veil and neither of them cared.

The night

Golden hour turned into a sky full of pink, then the lights came up and the party went straight to the cake — which did not survive. Neither did anyone’s composure on the dance floor.

What I took with me

Big love, loud families, and a sunset I still think about.
