The place

Pueblo Bonito Sunset hangs off the cliffs at the end of the peninsula, where the Pacific stops being polite. Green lawns, stone balconies, terracotta roofs, and a breeze that never once asked permission.

We stopped fighting it early. The wind did half the styling.

The two of them

Alyce laughs before she knows she is laughing. Elijah looks at her like he is still trying to work out how he got this lucky. Under that parasol, on the edge of the lawn, they forgot the rest of us for a while.

That is my favourite part of any day: the moment the camera stops being a guest.

What I took with me

Robes and champagne in the morning. Groomsmen pretending they were not emotional. Black and white for the quiet things, colour for the noise.

And the Pacific behind all of it, doing what it always does — making everything feel a little bigger than it is.
